Christmas 2007

We've had a wonderful Christmas this year. Maggie has been so much fun and more into it than last year. She still doesn't really understand or know what's going on, but she had fun pulling the bows off of the presents and ripping the paper. We spent Christmas eve and Christmas day morning at home, which was nice, but we hit the road to Georgia Christmas day by noon to head to my parents' house. We got to spend time with my family, my extended family on my mother's side and my grandmother as well. It was a fun but hectic time.

The giraffe was a lot bigger than we thought it was
going to be, but Mark worked hard to put the tent
up in the middle of the den so Maggie
could play with it. By the way, it's still there!

Maggie is not sure what to think of the giraffe at first but
eventually warms up to it and has had a great time playing with it since.

Daddy had as much fun playing with it as Maggie did.

Sleeping and Eating

Poor little Maggie was so tired during lunch today that she couldn't even stay awake long enough to eat.

Maggie and Mark on the carousel

I wanted Mark to get to ride the carousel with Maggie and give her another ride on it. She didn't really like it any better, but there are some cute pictures and a video of it anyway. The carousel is at the new outdoor mall, and the last picture is of us in front of the Christmas tree in another part of the mall.

Nine Teeth Total

We finally got an explanation for Maggie's recent fussiness and lack of sleep...3 new teeth! I had just checked a few days ago, and there were no new teeth. Not even a sign of any new ones popping up. Tonight Mark and I checked, and she had 2 molars and one on the bottom next to her two middle ones. I'm glad to at least know what the problem has been.

Getting ready for Christmas

Well, we tried to get a picture of Maggie in her cute smocked Christmas dress for our Christmas card. If you have or have had a toddler, you know it is almost impossible to get them to sit still long enough to snap a picture, and forget about posing, smiling, looking at the camera. There were a few that were cute, but the top of her head was cut off, or her dress was covered up, or she was posed but wasn't smiling. Anyway, we just had to give up and go with what we had. Here are few of them.

Maggie's first carousel ride

Maggie had her first carousel ride with her friend Katie. They rode in the teacup, but we didn't dare spin it. She loved watching it from the outside, but once it started she wasn't so sure about it. She didn't cry, but she sure didn't get excited about it.Getting in the teacup

Waiting for it to start

Not so sure about it! They sat like this through the whole thing.

Hanging around the house

Here are a few more pictures of Maggie from the last several weeks.

Here she is with the pumpkin she picked out at the pumpkin patch. She called it her "ball" and would carry it around. Finally, we had to sneak it out of the house to throw it away because she kept throwing it and trying to bounce it. We were afraid after having it 6 weeks what we would find if she split it open.

Having fun in the cabinets

The Napoleon Dynamite wig never gets old

This top that she's wearing is a dress that either my sister or I wore when we were little. I thought it looked pretty cute with her turtleneck and jeans.

She took to my birthday gift from my sister and her family before I even got a good look at it. It is a personalized "java jacket", but it also works as a bracelet.

Visiting B

We were in GA a few weeks ago and visited my grandmother while we were there. Maggie likes to play in B's room and push her walker around, but she doesn't like so much to sit still and have her picture made. This is Maggie's new picture face she poses sometimes.

Learning to feed herself

Well, she didn't get the hang of it right off, but we'll keep working on it. She liked playing with her spoon and the bowl mostly because we have never let her do that before. Then she finally just picked up the bowl and put her face in it. I had to get another spoon and finish feeding her so she would get a little in her tummy.Saying please

So proud of herself

Fun with Mimi and Papa

My parents-Maggie's Mimi and Papa- came to visit in the middle of November. She sure had a great time with them. Here are some pictures from their visit.

Thanksgiving in Tennessee

We spent Thanksgiving day with Mark's family on his dad's side in TN. It's not far so we just drove up and back for the day. We enjoyed seeing his grandfather, aunts and uncle and cousins. We don't get to see this side of the family very often, so it was good to catch up with them.

New Contributor

Due to my inability to keep the blog updated in a timely manner, I have decided to bring on another contributor ... Laura Lynn. I am sure she will do a much better job at keeping everyone current on what is going on in our crazy lives.
